ECUMENICAL CHAPEL PROJECT- ALWAYE

Ecumenism is one of the top priority areas of concerns for the YMCA Kerala Region and YMCA serves platform for Christians of all denominations in the state. In view of promoting ecumenism and interchurch relations, YMCA made several initiatives at Regional, sub regional and local level. We also formed Ecumenical Forums at local YMCAs and Sub regions for strengthening ecumenical actions at local level. We believe that to be ecumenical is to celebrate the Good News of God's love in Jesus Christ, to seek to share that mercy with every person in the whole wide world, to seek to help every person to grow in faith towards God.

It was a long cherished dream for the YMCA’s in Kerala that ecumenical Church / Chapel shall be established in Alwaye in order to promote and proclaim the faith that makes us one in Christ; Welcome all Christian dominations with openness; celebrate the diversity of our membership; unite through ecumenical worship and sacraments; explore variety in theology and education; multiply God’s gifts through faithful stewardship. Support one another through prayer and nurturing presence and work together for peace and justice. Our long cherished dream is materializing during the year. An Ecumenical chapel is going to be established in the YMCA Campsite with the support of Rev. Samuel D Stephen, Deputy President of the World Alliance of YMCAs. The foundation stone laying of the Chapel is scheduled to be held in June 2007. The Region is greatly indebted to him for his support extended to the Region.
